Execution : The Discipline of Getting Things Done
By Larry Bossidy, Ram Charan, Ram Charan - Published in Hardcover on 06/01/2002
Why this book is Jeff Wilson's favorite:
I have read all of Ram Charan's books and this is by far my favorite. I like how the book was divided into three sections - the "discipline", the "building blocks" and the real "how-to" as Covert and Sattersten summarize. I have read hundreds of business books and too many turn into egocentric personal histories of all the wonderful things the author has done (which sometimes makes an entertaining read, but doesn't tell me how to succeed). In Execution, Bossidy and Charan use their entertaining personal stories to actually show readers the key points to execution, and how to actually make things happen. I love the size of the book also, different than many other books, which makes it stand out on my shelf, and I applaud the publisher for publishing in a font that is actually readable and inviting to the reader. This is one of my all-time favorite reads, and the principles discussed in Execution have helped me learn to "get things done" in the organizations where I have worked, as well as in my personal life. I keep book notes handy and refer to them often.
